BIRTHDAY WISH
“Tucker”
2007 14.1 Red Roan Paint Pony Gelding
Cynthia’s daughter, Peyton, requested a pony for her 3rd birthday and thus the search began for the perfect first pony.
Tucker was purchased from Sandra Layton of Granby, MO in December 2009. Although Cynthia had reservations about purchasing such a young pony, she was impressed with Tucker’s quiet demeanor and good start under saddle.
Tucker had a successful competition season with Cynthia in the Hack classes in 2010 and Stone Ridge welcomed Josh Belles as Tucker’s competitive partner for the 2011 season. Josh and Tucker competed successfully in Schooling Jumpers, Crossrails and Pony Hunters for 2 seasons.
In 2012, Tucker earned 3rd place at the MACTA Schooling Horse Trial Starter Division with Jess Smith, a first time eventer who catch rode him at the event.
Peyton graduated from leadline to groundpoles in the summer of 2013, and finished the season at crossrails with her trusty steed. The pair placed 2nd at the August 2014 Stone Ridge Eventing Derby at Starter Novice. Peyton and Tucker are active in Shoal Creek Pony Club and their focus has shifted to USPC Games Competition.
Peyton and her games team, It’s a Games Thing, won the 2017 Midwest Pony Club Games Rally for the Junior division and qualified for the USPC National Championships. The team then traveled to Tryon, North Carolina in July 2018 and brought home the USPC Junior Games East Coast National Championship. They then repeated their Midwest Pony Club Games Rally Championship in 2018 to qualify for the 2019 USPC Champs.
It’s a Games Thing had continued success by placing 2nd at the Prince Phillip Cup hosted at the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event in Lexington, KY in 2019. They are the highest placing Midwest Region team in Prince Phillip Cup history.
Tucker, Peyton and their teammates earned a 2nd consecutive national title with the victory at the 2019 Modified Division Central Games USPC Championships hosted in Parker, Colorado.
Tucker joined Edge of the Road Farm in 2022 where he is teaching young Wyatt the value of a good pony. We have missed him around the farm, but get so much joy from seeing him teach the next generation. Stay tuned for updates as we are sure to see great things from this pair in the future.
